I make my own Christmas cards. For the last several years, I have done "quilted" cards, all with stars...Le Moyne Star, Laced Star, and Hexed Star. I'm hoping someone might have a suggestion for this year cuz I've hit the wall on new ideas. It should be fairly simple, not too many pieces, manageable to create in miniature, yet definitely look like a star to non-quilters (Friendship Star doesn't meet that last criteria). Thanks so much for any help. :D

How about a simple country star (rather primitive looking) using scraps of denim, denim pockets, using reverse applique by cutting out a star from denim and placing Christmas fabric under the cutout. "Wishing you an old fashioned country Christmas" Maybe any of these ideas will spark your creativity.

Thanks, Nel. I think denim is too heavy for the cardstock, but I'll take a look at some of the applique patterns out there and see if any of those might work.

For something really primitive, Quiltville's Maverick Stars:

How about this one from quilter's cache?

This makes a 9" block ! It is called the Belted Star. It maybe more work than you want to do, but I think it is neat.

Also check out Wandering Star.

That Belted Star is great for a quilt, but I think I'd be in for trouble trying to reduce it to card size (3-4 inches). The Wandering Star is too much like Friendship Star and the Maverick Star has too many pieces. I think maybe I'll just go through Quilter's Cache page by page and check out everything with "star" in the name. I have several quilt block encyclopedias from the library and still haven't been able to find the perfect one.
