I made a scrap quilt using a variety of fabrics: calico, juvenile, solids, etc. and found out that using too much variety made an ugly quilt. I thought of adding colorful sashing and borders to help solidify the quilt. What do you think might help save this ugly quilt?

It would be easier to comment if we had a picture of it to look at. Would you be able to post a picture?

I am trying to upload two pictures of this poor ugly duckling.

I bet it isn't as ugly as you think. Looking forward to the photo.

We must have been posting at the same time as your photos just popped up. And I don't think it is ugly. Maybe just the right sashing, one of the main fabics perhaps? I don't feel qualified to comment as I am so new at this, but look forward to the comments of others.

That is a true scrappy quilt and it will look super fine when finished. My girlfriend makes these and they are great.
Keep going, it is looking good.

Everyone has their own personal preferences. Depending on the rest of your blocks, there seems to be a red and a blue that are in most of your blocks. I would choose one of these two colors to sash with. I like a lot of color which usually influences my decision, so go with your preferences and it will be right.

I don' t think I would do a sashing, as it makes each block a focal point. I think these would look best blended into each other, and give it the overall look of just scrappy.

I think it's a beautiful I Spy quilt in the making: a child would be kept very busy learning from it colors, finding big bird, counting the animals, ect...
