I have the right one, put it on right.. using Utube. So, do I start in the middle of the quilt and work away from center?
and do I change my tension ? OK.. really want this to work. Thanks, Ell |
Hey Ell, when I use mine, I just adjust the stitch length to a little longer. I don't start in the middle like I would with free motion quilting. Hope that helps and good luck.

Practice 1st on a small quilt sandwich or pot holder. With the stitch I use, I don't change the tension. However, I think my machine may change tension automatically. Yes, starting in the center helps avoid puckers. Keep checking your underside for puckers as you go & you may be able to avoid them or fix them before you have gone too far.

I always start my quilts in the center and work out, to avoid any puckers on the back. I lengthen my stitch according to the batting I am using. As far a tension, test on the very edge of your quilt, see how the stitches are. (Within the area that your binding will go)
Hope this helps |
I just lengthen the stitches and use straight stitching for in the ditch or meandering, don't move too fast or the needle will break. I use the zig zag and walking foot to finish off the binding but you can use straight, don't matter. I wore a walking foot out years ago from using it so much. Keep one on my little Elna all the time so it is ready to go. Once you get used to it,you will love it.
I start quilting with it in the center, as the others said, it helps keep down the puckers. Carol J. |

Whenever I can, I start in the center and work outwards.

Practice on a little quilt sandwich, lengthen the stitch, and have fun :D:D:D

Gads, but this makes me go way back in my memory. Thanks to having Pfaff's I haven't used a walking foot in ages.

I don't start in the center of the quilt but I do start in the center of one side.
