Where can I find a pattern of a Bog Coat, and an Origami Jacket.
I have spent hours on the internet and cannot find a thing. Can someone help?

Diane Ericson has a pattern, #108 for a bog coat. Also, if you google "Threads Magazine, Bog coat" there is more information. Pattern Review also has a review of the Ericson pattern.

A group in our guild made bog coats three or four years ago and they all turned out really well. The pattern was easy to stitch and had very few pieces and seams so more attention could be paid to the fabric choice and the placement of colours.

A guest speaker at our guild a couple of years ago had one on. She said lots of women in her home guild had made them. She told us basicly how to do it without a pattern. Back then I googled it and eventually found the same basic directions. If I can find them I will post them. Can't look till tomorrow.

What is a bog coat? I couldn't really make out a useful item from the directions. It looks extremely short in the front. Can you tell me what it is for?

It's just a form of jacket or you could use it as a smock, if you made it long enough you could wear it around the house while you're sewing. You can decorate it however you want. You could really make it into anything you want it for according to the fabric and decoration you use.

You decide on a length and width by measuring and adding x amount of inches to the measurement. if you want it down to your waist, hips, knees, or floor; just measure the distance from your shoulder to where you want it and add 12 inches to that measurement. For the bust measurement, loosely measure around your chest and I think you add 6 inches. It's very clear in the diagram, I only glanced at it.

This url gives clear information on how to make the basic garment, if you google it, you'll see different ways people have decorated it.
