any suggestions on hand quilting design for a log cabin...

You might check out the hand quilting on some of the web sites selling Amish quilts. Log cabins are frequently just quilted just to the ditch side of the seams, since (1) the quilting doesn't show up a lot with that quilt design and (2) it's hard quilting through all the seams.

thank you, I will check out some sites.....I had it in my mind that I would probably have to do sid, but thought I would ask anyways...

Log Cabins also look great with the lighter colors done with feathers and a simpler design in the darks where you can't see the quilting as well...or you could do feathers going in the opposite direction on the dark from the light. Please post a picture when you are finished...or put one up now and you may get even better suggestions!

Susie, what a beautiful quilt. I have never seen that layout with the sashing and stars. Your white spaces are perfect for feathers. Not sure what I would do with the rest. I would have to think on it a while.
