On a tutorial (somewhere) a lady was using a 5/8" seam guide presser foot ( just like the 1/4" seam guide) I cannot find this presser foot anywhere. Most people I ask don't even know what I am talking about. HELP!

Haven't seen a foot, but there are many other types out there. One is the old type that gets screwed to the bed of the machine. See the silver gadget moved out of the way? It starts right at the end of the s on the word CoyoteQuilts. That's what I am talking about.

most of your plates are 5/8's

Some feet have a slot that allows the needle to be moved right and left and set more than the 1/4". The Bernina 1/4" foot was attached to their already 1/4" foot making it almost impossiable to get the scant. A Viking foot I have allows for more adjustment.

Cool. I've never seen a 5/8" foot, just a plate guide as in CoyoteQuilts' pic. You can also get a magnetic guide. I'll have to look for one for my machine.

I use the 5/8" mark on the throat plate of the sewing machine. I place a strip of masking tape at the mark and use it for a guide.
Every machine I have ever owned, and that is many over the years, has had the measurements on the throat plate.

If there is a 5/8 guide, I would buy one in a second! After I got a 1/4 for quilting, I have been wanting a guide foot for regular garment sewing so badly.

I don't know the word presser foot should be used; it is a seam guide. My one viking has one that screws into it but you can also buy one that is a magnet that you place on your machine bed. It holds very strong. Most Joann's, Fabric Hut, and even Walmarts have them; they are around $5. It was a must when I was teaching my sister to sew and couldn't produce a straight seam.

Does anyone else have trouble with the 5/8" seam after sewing so many 1/4" seams? The 5/8" looks so big to me. I don't sew many garments any more, but when I do I can't sew the 5/8" any more.

Oh yeah .. I know exactly what you are talking about .. Not only do I have a problem now with a 5/8 .. it also seems so huge! I have taken to trimming down a pattern seam allowance prior to cutting.
