hello everyone--i read this site almost everyday, but have only actually written anything once before. do any of you know if there are local copy centers that will print on fabric for you if you supply the fabric sheets? i have only tried to do this once and it was for an iron on transfer and it was beautiful when i did it but faded away to almost nothing within a year. now i am totally intimidated and would like to find someone to do this for me. i know the how tos have been discussed at length on this site in the past, but i was hoping you might be able able to help me. i really would like to make a memory quilt but am afraid to start. you all are always so supportive, not to mention enthusiastic. can you help?

Around here in So Cal, we can take our stuff to Kinko's and have them print, or copy on fabrics. If you call around to printing places, some of them may do that. Also check with your local quilt shop and see if they know of anyone that can do that for you. Hope you find someone!!!

I use my own printer from my computer

I've only used my own printer also.

the fabric sheets I use to print with my computer say hand wash or dry clean. When run thru the washer, some color faded. Moreso on the old hp I had. Now I have Epson, and the ink lasts longer. I still tell everyone to dry clean only.

Nancy, i work for a sign shop and printing there is a whole different world. Maybe check around in your area for for someone who is reasonable in price and would be willing to help you. We have a wonderful printable fabric at work that i can either print on at home or print on at work and it will withstand the test of time.

I have printed off different patterns/pictures from them and have had no problem. Even a picture I used to put on the front end of one of my kid's tote bags and have never had a fading problem. Go here for ideas and inspiration and directions of 'how to'. Keep us posted! Skeat

thanks to all of you for the input. i will start casing the local area for help. for the last 36 years years my entire family has gone to cape ann mass for summer vacations. for the last 12 years we have all had t-shirts with the same logo that said--"35th(or whatever year it was) annual fay family vacation. every year the t shirts were a different color. i have samples of all of them and i would like to make a t shirt quit alternating blocks of the logo with blocks of pictures from over the years. i hope i can pull it off. it will be a family treasure if i can. if it does happen, it will be because all of you offered your suggestions and got me really excited to start this project.

I just use my regular printer at home and Electric Quilt printable fabric. Good luck with the project it sounds awesome ! And remember we LUV pics ! :lol:
