Hello everyone. I am a newbie and in the process of making my first quilt. I have found this board to be invaluable! The funny thing is my question is about another project.
My girls have nap mats which have a canvas name label on them. When I tried to write their names on them with a pigma pen, it smeared and bled. I have used these pens for scrapbooking but never on fabric. Now that I have looked into it, I did not prewash them, let them dry, or heat set them. Basically, I did everything I shouldn't have! Is there a way to remove the ink at this point. I tried a bit of rubbing alcohol and am in the process of washing them in hopes that some of it will come out. I don't want to dry them yet. I have Synthrapol too. Would this work? Thanks, Emily |

Don't know what the mats are like, but I do know that if you haven't heat set the pigma pen, I have used just regular hand soap & kept rubbing it, and the ink will disappear! Good luck!

Is the canvas 100% cotton? If it has synthetics, the ink may not penetrate well...
It shouldn't hurt anything to try the synthropol, I would rinse out the alcohol really well first... don't want to mix chemicals :D:D:D |
Sorry to hear of your mishap, but I hope that you will find this board very valuable in the future. I have learned so many valuable things from this board.

Hmm, Don't know about the synthropol, that's used to set dye, not remove it.

Hello. Welcome from Illinois! Try hairspray. It works on some inks.
