I inherited 80 fan blocks that my grandmother told me her mother had made. When I opened the bag I found that the pattern pieces were there too. The pattern is cut out of a newspaper or other publication with printing on the backside. From reading the articles I believe it is Home and Farm, definately published in Arkansas. There are two partial dates I found, one showing the year 1936.
I plan on finishing the quilt using an unbleached muslin to complete the fan blocks. The attached picture of the pattern pieces is just two of them. |
This is a very nice set of blocks and it is great to have the pattern pieces too. Be sure you make a nice label and maybe a pocket on the back to hold the patterns...

WOW! What a treasure!

Wow, you are so lucky. Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Very neat!! That will be a fun project for you. What a wonderful treasure!!
|
Very cool!
I hope you took the originals and put them in archive paper and put in a ziploc bag with a small bag of dessicant...for preserving... With your copies, make a few since this looks like an intensive quilt you made need to make several templates... This is a fantasitic find. Please remember to put all peritinent info in the ziploc and at another place... This is irreplacable. K |
You are going to have such fun putting together these wonderful older blocks. They will give you many memories from the past.
