I will be visiting Oklahoma for 5 days in mid-October - flying into and out of Oklahoma City but staying in Tulsa. Are there any quilt shops, museums, etc. that I should try to visit? Anything else we should try to do during our stay? I will be traveling with my husband (but he can go fishing with his brother) and my 2 daughters, 13 & 23.

In Oklahoma City, definitely try to take time to visit the OKC National Memorial, at the site of the OKC Murrah Building bombing in 1995. You will be glad you did.

The OKC Museum of Art is outstanding. They have a fantastic exhibit of Chihuly glass. (not sure how to spell Chihuly...)

There are at least two wonderful quilt shops in OKC: Savage Quilter, and Oklahoma Quilt Works. In Guthrie, Sooner Quilts... all wonderful shops.

And there is Jenks, Ok, outside of Tulsa, quilt shops, antiques fun to stroll. the 8th an art show, the Vintage Tulsa show on the 15th, antiques. Several quilt shops in Tulsa and SandSprings, also the Lavender Farms, just use google and you are there.

OKC has many wonderful things to do. You should find time to visit the Cowboy Hall of Fame. I also ditto the Oklahoma City National Memorial. They have a wonderful zoo with a NICU nursery for the baby animals. Their capital building has an oil rig in front. There are several board members who live in that area, maybe they will chime in.

There is a Frank Lloyd Wright building in Tulsa if you like to see his architecture. What are your interests?

Oklahoma Quiltworks is an excellent quilt shop and Savage Quilter, although only 2 or 3 yrs old is also a great quilt shop. There is also a new discount outlet mall located at Council Road and I-40 (The west side of the city). The Coach store is really great and for the senior shopper I really like the Chico Outlet.

While in Tulsa, you should absolutely go see the Gilcrease Art museum, and the Philbrook Art museam. They are both stunning.

Thank you so much for all the replies. Unfortunately, we cannot spend a lot of time in the Oklahoma City area. My oldest daughter is flying from Austin, TX directly to Tulsa so we need to pick her up and drop her off. Our interests are really broad, my daughters are gifted artist and the younger is very theatrical (has done a lot of productions) We all love the outdoors. I'll check out the museums and the lavendar farm sounds really interesting as well as the town of Jenks and all the quilt shops. I'm finally getting excited about this trip!
