I need some expert information. I have just been given a Singer 99K from my daughter as a gift:) The case got banged up in shipping and is torn apart at the corners. Hubby says he will fix it up like new:)
It runs nicely and everything is in great shape. It does need a bobbin case and bobbins. There are no attachments either.

Can anyone tell me what year it was made and is it considered a featherweight. I hope so but will be happy either way!
Also, where can I buy a bobbin case and attachments?

It is not considered a featherweight...but a 3/4 size??? Attachments and bobbin cases can be found on ebay...

A featherweight has a little lift up extension flap to the left of the needle, and only weighs about 11 pounds. Your 99 would be heavier than that, but nice to have, all the same.

If the case was damaged in transit, don't you have a way of getting some compensation for that from the carriers? No harm in trying.

I love my 99! There is no bobbin case, it just drops in, and the bobbins are easy to get, either on ebay or any online singer sewing parts company. My DH cut routed a hole in an oak board and inset it for me so that I didn't need the case (mine came broken, too). You are going to love it!

If you post the serial number I can look it up and tell you the age. The 99 is a 3/4 size version of the model 66. They are great machines. I have a bunch of manuals for the model 66 that are also mostly accurate for the 99's. If you pm me with your email address I'll email them to you.

if you visit the singer site you can enter the serial # for your machine and find out exactly when it was made- and where- also you can download a manual for it. i love my 99k- it has such a nice even straight stitch- and is a little work horse.
mine was (born) on my sons birthday --- many years earlier---its' a 1956-
and no- 99k's are not featherweights-
totally different machine.
