My DH loves baked steak...tender cube steak with lots of gravy that I do in the crockpot. This is my original recipe...the crockpot makes it so easy to do. I don't measure anything to an exact amount so you can adjust ingredients to your taste.

1 1/2 to 2 lbs cube steak (about 4 or 5 pieces)
1 large onion
2 cans beef broth (14.5 oz cans)
2 tablespoons worchestershire sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce (I use lite soy sauce)
Salt, pepper, and worchestershire powder to season the meat.
Turn crockpot on high; add beef broth, worchestershire sauce and soy sauce.

Heat large skillet over med high heat and fry cube steak in a small amount of oil until brown on one side. Turn meat over and season with salt, pepper, and powdered worchestershire and fry until brown.
Place in crockpot...slice an onion on top (if you like onion flavor) and cook for 2 to 2 1/2 hours on high until tender.
Go work on your quilt for a couple of hours in the meantime.
Remove meat when tender; measure out about 1 cup of broth and wisk in 4 to 5 tablespoons flour to thicken. Wisk the thickened broth into the remaining broth in crockpot to make the gravy. Place the meat back in the crockpot and cook another 20 to 30 minutes on high to thicken the gravy.
You may have to use more or less flour depending on how much broth you have...but you get the picture.

We had this for dinner...it cooked while I finished up my quilt top. Fix some mashed potatoes or rice, a veggie and salad and you have a hungry man style dinner.

This recipe sounds great. Have you tried this with potatoes and carrots cooked in with the meat?

That sounds sooooo yummy. I immediately put it in my recipe file and hopefully will try it soon. And it frees up all that kitchen time to work on my quilts!! Thanks!
