I am working on D9P for my friend. I am handquilting each three lines going diagonally. That makes big squares unquilted here and there. Does anybody have any idea what to do with them?
Do I need to quilt other than those diagonal lines?
Please check the pics of the quilt that is still on a way.

It's a pretty quilt. What type of batting are you using, usually it will tell you how far apart you can quilt.

Since I am a beginner quilter, I asked a lady at the fabric shop and she recommended me a thick batting with polyester.
The plain square coming up measures 7-8inch each.

you could use buttons or a decorative tying technique like crows feet in the middle of the squares. A non-geometric pattern - like a small flower or symbol - would work well, too.

i think i might go one line diagonally across the empty squares. it would end up following the ditches of the 'pinwheel'. draw some possibilities on clear wrap and try them out by laying them over the pattern..

Yumi - that is beautiful. You have so much patience to be hand quilting - along with young fingers!!! I can hardly believe you are a beginning quilter.

I would either tack in the middle of that 7" space or as mentioned tack it with a funky button (only if it's not for a little one)

WOW!!
Love the fabrics you have chosen.
Beautiful work.

I always use cheating method by applying a strip of mending tape to sew straight to follow. It really works well on me as a beginner quilter.
Thank you for the encouraging sweet words. You ladies always make my day.

youme, I love the quilting. I have never seen a triple row like that. I love it. It makes it vary interesting. For the Squares have you thought of some free motion flower in each square. You can trace a pattern on to tissue paper, the type you wrap presents with pin it to your quilt and freemotion on top, tear away when done? Just a thought.

How big are the squares? Poly Batting should be quilted no more the 3-5 inches apart according to the Singer Quilting Bible, which I need to reread.
Depending on the size of the squares you might just need a small something in the middle. I wonder if you did a small diamond and then repeated it twice how that would look.

Let us know what you end up doing and post pictures.
