Wash-away applique sheets
 

I just read about these sheets that you can put through your printer, print out your pattern, iron on like freezer paper, and then hand applique. Afterwards, when washed, it should just dissolve, so not removing the paper. Has anyone used this new product? How do you like it? Does the paper really wash away? Do colors bleed?

Wow.... that sounds great. I'm curious now to see how people like it.

i use these- and love them- the ladies at our lqs first showed them to me at a show last june- and they love them=and show them to everyone who appliques-
i've been using mine for foundation/paper piecing- i do tear away some of the paper- but that's just me--
yes-what is left just rinses away.

Do you know the name of this product? I would like to have my LQS order it. Sounds like a great timesaver, thanks for the heads up.

These make applique and paper piecing so much easier BUT I have read on the web somewhere that the residue will gum up your sink pipes if you are not careful. I rinse mine in a bucket and toss it out in the yard.

I just bought some and brought it home to find out it DOES NOT work in laser printers. Only ink jet printers:< So, until we get an ink jet (which hubby says he wants in the future) it will stay on my shelf.

I am currently working on a pp quilt by Judy Niemeyer that has applique on it. I'm not nearly to that part, but I read ahead to see her directions, and she says that she tried a couple of the different rinse-away stabilizers and they didn't rinse away as well as she wanted. She continued to use and recommend them, but recommends that you cut away all the excess, leaving only a small strip under the folded back edges of the piece. That way there's not so much left to be rinsed away.
