I don't have any clever ideas for you. I usually just put something like "Made with love for......" By Grandma...... and then the date. Or just start jotting down some ideas and maybe one will work for you. Good luck.

I made this quilt when you were 10,
As you grow up, remember when,
I made this quilt when you were 10.

whatever you say, make sure you put as much info as possible... she will likely be a grandmother in 50 years and there will be few people to explain... if i am giving to neices/nephews, grandneices/nephews, and will for my grandchildren,... I put a little family tree with just the pertinent people ... from me>>my sister>>her son>>his daughter...with first and last names, the date given and occasion if it's something special... i use fabric pens to draw the little connections, add a few simple flowers for a border....and done...

When I did quilts for grandkids, I wrote something on each one relating to my feeling for them. For instance, To Trebton, our little T. My first grandbaby will hold a spec place in my heart. OR For Mason, twin B, always a smile, no mater what. OR to Logan twin A. ...... You get the drift. I also put a picturw of me with that child on the label, with the date. Hope this gives you some ideas.

I copied this from someone on the board, (I am sorry I don't remember who).

"If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together, there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important things is, even if we're apart, I'll always be with you."

From my collection of sayings.........copied from fellow quilters and the internet
1. She's not a perfect quilt, she has a flaw or two, But when you need some warmth and love, she will be there for you.
2. May the colors of your life be bright and the threads in your life very strong.
3. A piece of my heart is being shared with you through each piece of this quilt
4. This quilt will link generations by the golden threads of love and devotion.
