Auto needle threader in Janome Gem Gold 660 - Easy peasy or pain?
A fellow quilter, whom I don't know well, has offered me her twice used Janome Gem Gold 660 for a price. I absolutely need a needle threader because I can no longer thread needles. I have no problem with the auto-needle threader on the Bernina, but don't have a Janome to look at, so I thought I would ask here. How easy is it to use your auto needle threader on your Janome? I have looked at an online manual for the machine and really can't tell how easy it is to use.
I needed a lighter machine for classes and it was either this or a used Activa and this is less costly. Thanks, Stephanie |
don't know about the model you mention, but works great on the 6600. Don't know how I sewed without it.

I don't know the Gem, but have had two Janomes with the auto threader.
If you move your needle ... you must put it in the default position to make the threader work. Plus, be careful to not damage the little wire that pulls the thread thru ... and this can easily be done by trying to use the threader with the needle in the wrong position. On my first machine with a needle threader, I could never get it to work ... til I realized that it would not, til I had it in the right needle position. Once I clued into that ... it was slick and easy! |
Love the needle threaders on my 6600 and my Gem. Needle in the right position, which is all the way up I think, and no problems. Can't see that little hole in the needle any more and this has saved me.

I have a Janome Jem Gold, the threaders are the same on all the Jems from what I have seen. It works great. Some brands of needles won't work with the threader on my Jem. I kept thinking the thing was broken and someone told me to try a different brand of needle. I never can remember which brand works the best until I change the needle and then I think Oh yeah I need the other brand.

I am not sure but sounds like it is a problem with the threader!!!

I love my needle threader. The only time it gives me problem is if I'm using thick thread like Buttonhole twist. Then sometimes it doesn't want to pull the double thickness through the eye without a bit of help.
If you still have problems, try this needle threader. It works from the front so you don't have to try to feed it in from the back of the needle. http://www.thegadgetgirls.com/gadget...-threader.html |
