Mother-In-Law's Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
My mother-in-law passed away last April. Father-in-law finally told us to clean out the sewing room and make it a bedroom again. Going thru it with 2 of my SIL's and DH today. We found this quilt hidden in a plastic tub with a bunch of scraps. It only needed about 4 feet of binding finished on it. I'm sitting her tonight finishing it. We also found a completed quilt top, have already taken it to the SIL that has a LA machine to finish it. This quilt was hand pieced and hand quilted.

How wonderful you have 2 excellent quilts as rememberences of you MIL. How fortunate you are to have them.

A labor of love I think, that is so many hours of work. It would be an honor to be the person who gets to keep it.
|
What a beautiful quilt! It's a great remembrance of your MIL!
|
What a special remembers nice of your DMIL! I am making a GFG, scrappy, like that one, but with white background hexes and dark navy connectors. I certainly hope mine comes out that nice!

We have decided we are going to finish the quilts then take them back to DFIL's house. When he's ready to pass them out to the kids, we are going to number the quilts and have everyone draw a number. DH and I (and our 2 DS's) actually have several of her quilts. She had 5 children, 2 boys and 3 girls. The girls all live off and don't care for sewing of any kind. The boys live her on the family farm. And we daughters-in-law are the one's that sew, can, and quilt.

I bet you were thrilled to find that quilt, what a treasure. Sorry to hear about your MIL
|
How lovely! Did you know her to be a quilter? Maybe it was her mother's.
|
She was a quilter. But it is strange that none of us remember her piecing or quilting this one, but I recongize alot of the fabric from her stash.
|
What a great find.
