Need an idea for supporting my mission trips

God started an elderly ministry in the Ukraine with me. I need to raise money to visit yearly and help buy food and supplies for the senior citizens. I sew, but not great and need to be able to make something I could sell at craft fairs and etc. Does anyone have an idea. Please advise!

Cut and paste this link, scroll down about 1/2 down page on right and click on More than 5o fabric scraps and remnant ideas. You will find as patterns for some great gift ideas. Good Luck.

Thank you so much for your response. I must be doing something wrong. When I go the site, all I get is a darling picture of messy hair ladies holding quilts. Please advise!

I got that picture too, curious as to what the correct link is? The link is a jpg file which is a picture.
I did find this for you though:

I'm afraid my advise to someone who does not sew well, is to not sew for money. People want to buy things they could not make themselves, and if your merchandise looks amateurish, it will not sell well. Do you cook ? How about making interesting cookies or brownies or candy to sell. People always love to eat, so if you do that better than sewing, I would suggest that. And also, speak to local churches about your mission - they might be willing to donate some money outright.

From quilting comforts: this should be the correct link. Hope this helps.

I agree with quiltmomo4. But, just let EVERYONE know what you are doing. That way they can buy your handmade items or help donate materials toward your mission. Even if you are going to sell small floral arrangements for different holidays, god will bless your efforts. Don't worry, just start something and see what happens.

As the Missions Team chair for my church, I say speak to different churches. I agree with quiltmom04. We had a young woman from our church raise over $18,000 in just 6 months for her around the world 11 countries in 11 months mission trip. Some restaurants, like Chick-fil-a will give you a portion of what they sell on a certain nite. You just have all your friends show up on that nite. Her last fundraiser was if she would shave her head or not. You had to pay her one way or the other. We also had an auction of donated things at church. Her family supplied hotdogs, chips, fruit and things like that for lunch, donations accepted. There are lots of ways to raise money for missions.
