Buying A Featherweight
4 Attachment(s)
I found a featherweight. Seller said only problem is a loose plug. I have a feeling that will prevent me from testing how it sows. If so, should I buy it anyway? What else do I look for?
|
Not sure if you can not try her out. Be sure bobbin case is there. Beautiful machine.
|
couldn't you put some electrical tape on the plug temporarily? This way you could still test the machine.
|
Is the plug loose in the wall or the machine....can you borrow someone's cord to try it out? Does the seller have another one that you could try with that cord?
|
Depending on how much he wants for it. I would make sure that I could test it out, and if you can't he needs to drop the price. They have been going on ebay for as little as 175.00 to over 500.00. If I couldn't try it out I would still pay 100.00.

It looks like a nice machine, you can get a new foot control and cord, depends on price and if you want one bad enough, :-)
|
He's asking $150.00 for it. I'm sure he doesn't have another....he doesn't see too knowledgeable about it, not that I'm much better. I' going there tomorrow.

Looks good to me.

Get it while you can. The cord is easily replaced whether you order online or from a 'real' store. You get the accessories and case too.
Featherweights are easily maintained and even though you would want a FW type tech to go over it first to check for timing, you can then do all the upkeep yourself. Lucky you. |
Definitely get it. You can purchase any and all parts for the featherweight if you need to.
