Just Spit On It!

A few days ago there was a thread in the forum that mentioned using saliva to remove a blood stain. Now, it's got me thinking on how often I use spit when I'm quilting. I Know...GROSS! But I use it when I'm threading a needle, finger pressing a binding, smoothing my thread when hand sewing, etc. I have to say, spit comes in pretty handy sometimes. What do you use spit for?

Every quilt I make has some of my DNA in it. If it isn't spit, it's a little blood. :D I do wash before giving so hopefully that takes care of it.

I only use spit for drops of blood. Amazing how often we may just wipe our fingers or lick them.

DNA will someday identify all my sewing efforts! Lick the thread to tie a knot for hand sewing, lick the thread to thread the hand and machine needle, lick my finger to grasp tiny corners to match for sewing, etc. Then I also run a needle or pin that is a little stubborn across my scalp...the little bit of oil helps the point pass through much easier. I do wash the projects before gifting, only seems fitting!

I use "it" all the time when I thread a needle but I lick the back of the needle eye so threading is easier ..... usually.

All of the above. And sometimes I use a smidge on a stubborn crease or seam that won't press flat. I know, ewww, but since you asked... I always wash a quilt when I'm through with it too.

Hmmmmm. Guess we don't need to add labels, as our DNA will always identify the quilt maker!

The thing is though, it will only work with your blood and your saliva. You can't use your saliva on someone elses's blood. I know the thought of that is gross, but wanted to say, it only works on yours, not your kids, etc
