A Word of Warning

A couple of times in the last several months, I posted notices about fabric on this board. In the last week, I have received emails (supposedly) from the people I gave the fabric to. Since I recognized the names from the QB, I had no hesitation opening them. One was a solicitation for a singles dating site, one was a link to psychics, and the latest one is for adult entertainment. It is just a sad state of affairs that someone appears to have hacked into the QB for such hateful reasons. I will make sure that any communications will go throug the QB, and not via my usual email :-[

wow, sorry to hear that. I know if we discuss, lets say hores back riding. an add for horses or saddles will appear at the bottom of the page. weird. thanks for the heads up

As a web professional I can tell you that it's probably not the QB that has been hacked, but one or more of the individuals that the emails came from. They may have a virus or malware that is sending this garbage to any email addresses in their email program. You would be doing them a favor to let them know about the problem. If you don't want to email them (because you'll be exposing yourself to more spam) then you should PM them here on the board. I know I would appreciate the heads up. With this type of virus or malware it is very common for the individual to not know that it's coming from their computer.

I hate hackers, etc.!

mine got one a couple of months ago. I had several friends call and let me know about it so i was able to get rid of the bot. please let the people know they have a problem they need to take care of. no telling what could happen to their computer.

I have had close friends that I have gotten email like that, more than likely their email accounts were hacked, you should inform them to change passwords, someone did that to my email once and were sending my friend random things. it can happen to anyone

This happened to me awhile back, and the only way to get rid of these pests is to change your email address. What a pain changing and advising all of your friends and welcomed sites!

***
*** This happens when someone grabs (steals) your mail list.
*** I get these too.
***
*** If you get an E-mail that has no subject of one that has suggestive info. in the title (DO NOT OPEN IT).
*** This only gives the info. to another SCAMMMER.
***
*** Sometimes I get as many as 50 E-mails like this just because I opened one.

Just today there was a message on my email that said it was from my daughter who passed away a year and two months ago. It really set me back to see her name come up.

I wish those kind of people would get a job or something constructive.
I could not get pleasure from messing with people.
