HQ Sixteen Machine with small table
Hello everyone,
I am thinking about buying the machine because i do not have room for the large frame. Has anyone tried this machine? I need some feedback please. Quiltbaby |
I have a Baby Lock Tiara with a small table & I love it. Only problem I have is doing straight lines. Any hints anyone?

I just bought a Tiara, and I bought a ruler made especially for it. The ruler is about 12" long and it has a open grove down the middle that just fits the hopping foot perfectly. It's made for SITD and other straight lines. It was about $25. I'm sorry I don't remember the manufacturer, but maybe you could google Tiara accessories. I'll try to remember to look up the name when I get home from work.

Sorry, Quiltbaby, the Tiara is the same machine as the HW16. I think I am going to love it, but I'm just getting going on it myself. Yahoo has a user group for the HQ16. You might look for comments there. I don't have room for a stand-up long arm either.

I have the sweet 16 w the table and love it :) The customer service is also wonderful :)
I don't have the stitch regulator and don't miss it. The only ruler I use is the Line Tamer, which is invaluable for sewing straight lines, IMHO. http://www.fourpawsquilting.com/pages/template.html Enjoy! |
Thanks for the link. I have the HQ Avante but have a hard time following the ruler so this may help.

I love mine. I don't use it enough yet, but I love it. I've heard very good things about the Line Tamer for straight line quilting. The Yahoo group is a great resource too.
Cheers, K |
The Line Tamer by Four Paws Quilting is the ruler I bought too. Glad to hear it works so well for straight line quilting. I haven't done a quilt with it yet, but it seems to work well for me on my practice pieces.

I recently bought a Tiara II for the same reason . . .lack of room. However, I also purchased two extension tables for either side of the table that fold down when not in use. I absolutely LOVE this machine! I haven't quilted anything large yet, but have a couple of tops waiting. Right now, still quilting whole cloth until I get the hang of it.
One thing ong that turned me off when I was considering this purchase was the news that tension (lower and often upper) needs adjusting every single time the thread is changed, even if it's one color to the next in the same line! But once I got the hang of it, it's about a 90 second process. If you have a fair amount of sewing experience, knowing what needs adjusting and how, just comes naturally. good luck with your decision :) |
