What to do with these, please

I have several of these mantillas that we wore to church years ago. I would like to make something for my sister and myself with them. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks, Fredda |

Thanks, Fredda Mantillas! Have been trying to think of that name since a conversation about then months ago. Thanks. Oh and have no idea what to make with them. |
Use them as embellishment additions to a ( crazy quilt) or an applique wallhanging for each of you

Was thinking same thing.

They would make a nice shawl for your shoulders over a fancy dress. I would hate to cut them up to use in a quilt but someone posted a picture of a quilt with fabric backed lace blocks.

You could also use them to sun print or cyanotype (blueprint) fabric.
|
You could have them framed.

For my son we took one of the doilies that his great grandma crocheted and I tacked it to a background fabric. We framed it with a small picture of her. If you have a picture of you & sister you might do the same idea.

A couple years ago I took fancy hankies, doilies, buttons, lace that I had saved from my Grandmother and my own mother's wedding dress and made hearts out of them. They were about six inches long, lightly stuffed with fiberfill--each one unique. I gave eight to each of my nieces and sisters. There were some cute ideas on Pinterest under stuffed vintage hearts. I put them in a glass bowl each February for valentines day.
