Boye needle # for singer model 12
I am awful at searching.... I have a few boye needle cases with needles. Can someone tell me what # singer 12 uses? Thanks

Check out ISMACS. Looks like it keeps referring to treadle or hand crank fiddle base. You can also Google your own title and it will give you the different links/ resources.

Singer model 12 or 12K and originally called "New Family" uses a Singer 12x1 needle. I've found the most commonly available new old stock needles are "Boye" brand with number "20-1/2" on top of lid. The red 20-1/2 contains 3 or sometimes four needles sizes 12, 14, & 16. The black 20-1/2 contains sizes 14, 16, & 18. 4 needle tubes contain 2 of the middle size. These needles are currently not manufactured but hopefully someday the 12x1 needle will rise again.

Foreheadsmack! The number is 23 rather than 20-1/2. Think I was just speakin to someone about 20-1/2 for Willcox & Gibbs.

I passed on bying a Singer 12 with the nicest flower decals (may have been a VS2) because of the hard to find needles. After I regretted it a bit, when I found this blog entry. Apparently some current production needles work well with model 12.

Jon... above has alternatives, very reasonable.
