What brand needle for my Janome Horizon 8200?

Hi,

I am trying to find out what brand needle would be best for my Janome Horizon 8200. It doesn't mention a brand in my manual.

I have read that people like the Organ brand, and others say you need to buy the Janome brand. But then some say that Organ makes the Janome brand needles.

Anyone else with a Janome 7700, 8200 or 8900 care to share what needles work best for them?

Thanks!

I use Schmetz all the time on my Janome Horizon :) I have never seen Organ here in Australia

Organ does make Janome needles.

I use Janome brand (from a local dealer), Organ (bought through a co-op) and Schmetz.

I have used Klasse in a pinch, but am not quite as happy with them. I really cannot say what the difference is, but they just do not work quite as well.

I have a Janome 11000 and an old Kenmore made by Janome.

I've always used Schmetz but the last couple have not seemed as good as before, so I just bought a bunch of Organ needles to try. I use sharp (schmetz microtex or organ regular tip) for piecing and topstitch needles for quilting. My machine is a Janome 6600P.

When I got my 8900 I asked my dealer, was told whatever brand I liked, as long as they had the flat spot on the back.

That's because Schmetz are no longer made in Germany, they're now made in India.
