What is the best way to clean this?

So, my cat, Whiskey, likes to use laundry as a litter box sometimes. But today, he decided to use the edge of a quilt top. The top is not layered yet. What do you all suggest I do to clean it? If it were finished, this would be much easier. Bad kitty. Bad bad kitty. Should I just call it a day and get rid of the top or can it be saved?

The same thing happened to me a few years ago with a sandwiched quilt. I put it out on the front porch for a few days(out of the sun)until it didn't smell hardly at all. Then I plugged my nose, quilted and bound it as fast as I could, then washed it twice putting white vinegar in the rinse. I was afraid to try to wash it before it was finished.

Wash it by hand and use a mild soap, rinse and air dry in the dryer. Should work.

There is a special soap for removing pet odors that you can buy at the pet store I believe. It might help?

if it is just the edge - I would sprsy it with diluted laundry detergent - let it set for a fe minutes - thrn flush water through it - I would thrn dry it in a towel - after blotting as much water as I cold from it.

one of my cats did that to something I was working on. it is salvageable.

I have tried them all. I was using the hunters soap so the deer can't smell you or see you. that took the scent away well but the best I've found is Nature's Miracle. You can get it at any pet store. since it's just the edge you can put this on and wash it out easily. I had to wash a quilt top twice before I could quilt it because the cat peed on it. Then I found NM.

I love Nature's Miracle. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats - they're pretty well trained but accidents do happen and when it does, this stuff is wonderful. We buy it by the gallon. It really works.

WOW, because of my disability and not driving any more, I don't have any pets living with me anymore but what an interesting post.

I would gently handwash the area, and let air dry
