Price of fat quarters in your area of the world
I was just wondering what others pay for fat quarters, where ever they live, be it in Hong Kong, England, Ukraine, Australia, or here in the USA.
We have 3 local quilt shops in our area. Depending on what type of fabric, batiks are usually more, but for regular quilting cottons my best guess is $2.75 and up. We do have one fabulous mom and pop store that has $5 a yard discounted fabric which they also cut up into fat quarters for $1.25 each. They are top quality fabrics she is trying to move out of the store that haven't sold too well or the end of bolt type of items. Many of the price of yardage is well over $10 in our area, how about you? |
In FL it's the same as in your area fat quarters are $2.75 to $3.00, most better quality quilting cottons are $10 and up per yard, average is $11-11.99 per yard.

We pay a premium for fat quarters in Illinois. Good fabric here runs $10-12/yard. Fat quarters run $3.25-4.
I thought I was saving by buying FQ's, but now realize I'm usually better off just buying a 1/4 yard of fabric. |
Hello from Germany: over here we buy fabric by meter and centimeter, one meter is about 40 inch.
And one meter normally costs between 12 Euro -13 Dollar üp to 20 Euro which mean about 22 Dollar! Sometimes when you are lucky you get some fabric for 5 - 10 Euro, but often these fabrics are are not so wanted.... Some weeks ago I saw fabric which costs 25 Euro per meter!!!! That's not funny..... |
I was taking a class today at my LQS and the FQs were $2.45 ea. and they have a Sunday special of 20 for $20.95.

At the last quilt show the price for new fabric line fat quarter was $3 . Older fabric lines, $2.

Hi from Southern California. I don't usually buy Fat Quarters because you pay a premium price for them.
|
Australia - Mostly about $6 - $7 fat quarter, $25 - $30 per metre for fabric from quilting shops.

Hi Guys,
here re in the UK fabric runs at approximately £12 - £16 per metre which is exactly 39 inches. So in dollars that would be $19 -$25. Also, we don't have coupons like you do in the US and we seldom see fabric sales! Wish we had a Joanns. hugs Caroline |
Fabric at our LQS in the Edmonton, Alberta area is $16. - $22. a meter. I look forward to spending the winters in Arizona where fabric is less expensive even taking into consideration the exchange rate for the Canadian dollar.
