I love to live any place in the world that has four seasons and no wars. So long as I can Quilt.

That's Minnesota except for the Senator war we went through from November, 2008 to May, 2009. I mean, we had two inches of snow yesterday - fourth season starting. But then, we will have Indian Summer and that is the time we pull the shorts out again, for a few days, only to be lambasted with another storm. The springs are beautiful right down to the dandelions, the summers are warm/hot with mosquitos the size of B-52s, the autumns are crisp with beautiful colored leaves, especially the maple and sumac, the winters are cold, crisp, cold, icy, cold, I don't really like winter that much. Only until the day after Christmas. Then it is down hill until March.

Iowa is pretty much like Minnesota.

Excuse me, where do you find the little sewing people like you have on your notes and there is someone else has one where the little lady is sitting sewing on a quilt. They are so sweet. Edie

Carolina Beach, NC! A great not too crowded beach near a great middle sized city (Willmington). Tons of things to do and NO SNOW!!!!!

Downtown New York City. Love it.
Downtown Charleston, S.Carolina. Dripping with history and mansions.
Sedona, Arizona. Fantastically beautiful town.

Edie what is or are the "Amana Colonies" in Iowa? Is it a town? Are they a special type of place? It's an unusual name.

LOL, I went through this question last year. Was living in Pennsylvania but desperately missing the snowy midwestern winters of my growing up years. I traveled a bit, didn't choose any of the places I went to, then asked myself if I could live anywhere I wanted - because at that time, I could - where would it be? (Anywhere in the US, anyway. Would choose England or Scotland, but wouldn't be allowed to stay or to work without citizenship.) LOL, and after all that, I decided it was Pennsylvania and came back. I only wish it had a metro area in the snow belt!

Although I'm in Central PA right now, I prefer Philly and may well move back there.

What other places? I'm from Michigan, and if it weren't hurting so badly, I'd love to move back to Ann Arbor, where I went to college.

Would love to live for a year or two in Los Angeles or Pasadena, but not permanently.

I also have a Southern streak and would love a place in Birmingham, Alabama or maybe its suburb, Homewood. Or maybe a small farmlet a bit farther out.

If I could live anywhere, though, I'd pick Scotland or England. Not sure what part.

Google Amana C olonies - read the history on it. Very interesting. I love it there. My husband's family originated there in 1854. It is a soul-restoring area, great food, beautiful furniture hand made there, wine like you wouldn't believe. It is wonderful. Edie

Being from Michigan and hating winters, I'd like to live in San Diego or northern, CA or somewhere in North Carolina.

We just moved a little over a year ago and I have to think this is the best place for me.

We are in Pine Grove, Ca. The elevation is 2600 feet so we are above the fog (quite a problem in CA in the "valley") and below the snow. Occasionally, we get a dusting of snow but not enough to be a problem.

I love the wildlife here--turkeys, squirrels, deer and some other critters that only come out when it's dark........mainly I'm referring to the raccoons who love to dig in my flower pots and the mountian lion who lives around and I try to avoid (although we keep hearing about people who have seen him and I found two of his dinners--down deer--the last six months) The trees are wonderful having been a valley dweller for longer than I care to remember: pine, oak, cedar, madrone, manzanita....

The weather is beautiful, the people are friendly and best of all the quilt guild here is spectacular----

What more could you want--everybody come visit--okay? We've been building the house for five years and yes it is almost done.....
