Feathered Stars

Hi quilters.
I would like to make a feathered stars quilt, but am not sure what pattern to use, would like on does not assume I know every thing there is to know about quilting, have done several quilts that are a little difficult (a full sized Giant Dahlia) and am real good at following instructions. Any suggestion from my fellow quilters would be greatly appreciated!?! MaggieBB

Marsha McCloskey is renown for her feathered star quilts. Her is her website:

I agree with Maniac. Marsha McCloskey is the queen of feathered stars and has written several excellent books about them. You might check your local library.

Also, there are Inklingo patterns for these in different sizes.

If you are into feather stars her book is worth it IMHO, she even has specialty rulers to use in conjunction with her books.

Remember how Marsha McCloskey's books are sub titled: "Really Hard Blocks That Take a Long Time to Make" ;-) I have the book and the quilt is on my bucket list.

If you check out Eleanor Burns youtube series 'The Case of the Lost Quilt" - part 5,6 & 7, she explains how easy it is to do, and if you listen hard even give her measurements. I did make up a PDF pattern for a 60" square star, but lost it when my computer died. But it depends on how big you want it to be.

Feathered stars are beautiful and for me the best are paper pieced.
