I am making my first Disappearing Nine-Patch quilt and I am requesting your opinion on the block placement. I have taken 3 pictures of different placement and am still not sure about what I have ended up with. Your opinions would be appreciated.

Have you looked on Google?? Many different interesting placements quilts there:

I would do the placement so that the black prints are the sashing and the red squares be the small accent squares and the grays be the large square.

I'm only seeing one photo.

I think that is a block that works better when at least three different fabrics are used in the 9-patch - fabric A for the center, fabric B for the outside corners, and fabric C for the middle side squares.

If you would decide to try using different fabric combinations, undoing that is not a major disaster - it's a good "in front of the TV" project.

I like most of the fabrics that you used - except the dark gray one - 4th in second row, 2nd in third row, second in fourth row, and 2nd in 5th row. The reason I'm not fond of that one is because - on my screen - it looks dirty/dingy compared to the other prints.

This is only a runner, but I like this layout for the D9P.

There are many images on Google. I did mine so that 2 of the small squares meet diagonally in the center and the other two are in the "far" corners. If you number the 1/4 blocks from top left to bottom right, 1,2,3,4 then #1 has the small square at its top left. #2 has its small square at its bottom left. #3 the small corner is on its top right and #4 its on its bottom right. But that's just me. so many other layouts!

Oh good! While I was typing this lengthy description, "ekuw" posted a picture of what I meant!

Pretty black and white with a splash of red blocks! I like how you have them arranged.

Your arrangement looks pretty. I also went with the more common layout as above

I like your layout, I see the red squares "stepping" down, but the top row needs the blocks rotated so the red is in the same sequence.

If the fabrics were already chosen then I would not change them as the quilter obviously like the colors. Perhaps a variation of placement may be a choice but for me a DNP has so many nice variations. I use charm pack w/lots of colors but from the same design collection. I like the grey and red colors.
