Adding name
 

I just finished a quilt for my granddaughter and would like to piece her name across the back. Are there any tutorials on how to do this?

Hi and welcome to the board. not sure what you mean by a tutorial. If you google 'free pieced quilt alphabet patterns' there are several sites that come up. Some are pieced, some are paper pieced, some applique. Here's one:

Download one that you like, create the letters and add backing fabric to make up the correct size.
If you want to applique, you can also use a word processing program, bump the font size up, print the letters and use them as your applique patterns. make sure you reverse the letters when you draw them on your fusible!

Many around where I live use appliqué method and put the child's name across the back as well as the front. They use fusible to edge and blanket stitch or zigzag around on just the back before sandwiching layers together. They draw own letters in many cases.

If you are quilting the quilt, you might be concerned with skipping of stitches because of the thickness of the fusible. Many quilters put names on the front to avoid stitching thru the fusible but outlining the letters.

Bonnie Hunter (quiltville.com) has a friend Tonya Ricucci that has a book on piecing letters ( don't recall name of book) but the letters are fun and free form. Great way to be creative! :)
