I'm a self-taught quilter. Recycling is my passion. When I saw my BIL throw his 50 year old Air Force uniforms in the trash, I had to retrieve them. Along with my husband's old Navy uniforms, I washed them in HOT water, dried in HOT dryer, and proceded to cut. This is the heaviest quilt I have ever made.

Looks like it turned out great.

Waste not, want not! That will keep someone very warm. I like to use it up and re-use things. I made a quilt from my sons beer company uniform shirts that he just loves!!!
Way to go girl.

I bet that is heavy. But it sure is pretty. Great job.

Nice job!

Wow, you did a great job on them. How many needles did you break working on that heavy fabric?

Newby0709 10-31-2009 12:48 PM

Breaking needles was not a problem. Breaking thread and the workout on my muscles was major. It keeps us warm in the winter with the thermostat turned down.
