What pattern should I use with my Kaffe Fassett fabric?
1 Attachment(s)
I recently bought some beautiful Kaffe Fassett fabric. It's gorgeous, but I'm afraid that I didn't think about coordinating the fabric when I bought it. It was an impulse buy. Now I have 4 1 yard pieces and I can't figure out what pattern I can use. I've looked online at Kaffe Fassett's books and the only thing that struck me was the "Red Frames" pattern, but I don't think that's right for this fabric. I think maybe something sort of semi-scrappy? Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance. (picture below)

Find a coordinating solid or blender fabric and make any of the BQ patterns from Maple Island Quilts. Sorry I can't post a link.

They look like they'd work nicely in a kaleidoscope quilt. I love the ones I can see!

I keep wanting to do a Blooming Nine Patch and I think KF fabrics are perfect for one. You would have to add n some other fabrics.

I might use them in large squares or rectangles in the Shadowbox pattern or Missouri Stars version called Illusion.

It's a little difficult with only four of his fabrics. I would add about a dozen more blenders to go with his fabrics. I know his patterns are simple but he uses really bright fabrics to give his type of quilt a 'wow' factor. Good luck.

I added batik fabrics to my Kaffe Fassett prints, in similar colors. Alternated large squares with nine-patch blocks. Loved the results.

Another idea is Jenny Bowker's Shimmering Triangles quilt.

If you search for Kaffe Fasset here you will find many discussions and quilt ideas from others who have used his fabric. I have also gone to the library and checked out some of his books must for eye candy. Beautiful colors and quilts!

Jenny Doan did one with half hexies cut from 10" squares and sash it with 1 1/2" black strips. Sure makes them pop. A senior moment and I can't remember the name of it. Pattern is in one of her BLOCK magazines and the video is on YouTube. I have mine cut and waiting for a Honey Bun (1 1/2 " strips on a roll) that I ordered because I felt it is faster and more accurate than my cutting. Can't wait to get at it. Just remembered that I think the name is Stained Glass.
