1887 domestic
 

I just got this style of sewing machine. I know nothing of how to date them yet and have to read more on the board. This is not mine in the photo, but mine looks like this one. I can't find much information on it. I read on the metal when i pulled out the drawer that it said Pat. Aug 9 1887. Is this the date it was made? How do I date it? On the cabinet on the little fold out it has a number stamped in the wood. It is like 630 or something like that. How many were made?

What needles do I need or what ones are compatible with this machine? It was my great grandmas, then my grandmas and now I have it and will give it to my daughter. I hope I can get it working. Thanks

Look for brand name, serial #, model # on it. Maybe we can help if we have more information about it. I would love to have a treadle machine.

There are folks who hang out here who can give you all kinds of info about your treadle. (I'm not one of them.) You'll need to take a photo of the sewing machine, itself, and post it for someone to help you to the next stage. First, they have to figure out what brand it is, then hopefully, what model number it is. Then, what needs to happen to get it to sew again.
Take a good, fairly close photo of the sewing machine from the front, the back, the top and each end. Just get it in some good light and use your phone or whatever camera you use. If you have any trouble posting, let us know and someone will help.

Congrats on getting your ggrand's sewing machine. I have my mom's 15-91 and wonder whatever happened to my grandmother's treadle.

Where do I find the serial number? There is a number on the plate in the front. I will post a photo, but not sure anyone can read it. It is 1222290 I am not sure if that is it or not. [ATTACH=CONFIG]571532[/ATTACH]I guess this is the nifty bobbin winder. I have about 5 bobbins. I also need to get a belt for it. Any one better than the other. I see a big price range.Cheap $2 up to about $10. I also do have the wooden box cover that goes with it.
