Book/Tablet bean bags

I have been contacted by our senior center for assistance with a project for our library's senior reading program. The books/large print books/tablets can be heavy for the elderly to hold. This is the example that was suggested https://livebetterwith.com/products/...reader-2-pack/ ,
To me, it looks like it would hold a tablet just fine, but I have my doubts about heavy books.
Is there anyone here who has made such a beanie to meet all of the needs? There are many patterns out there, but I'm looking to make sure they are going to work well. Thanks for any input.

Additionally, what do you find is the best to 'stuff' them with. My thinking on that is that some weight is needed for the bottom but possibly polyfil for the top?

Sorry that I don't have an answer to your questions but I will be watching to see what others have to say. I like to read when I am eating lunch and have taken to using the Kindle all the time. However, there are a number of "real" books that I want to read but it is such a hassle trying to read them flat on the table or if propping them up, keeping the pages open. Hope someone has an idea for you. Kudos to you for wanting to help out the seniors. It would be such a help to them.

I believe corn, rice or dry beans could be the filler. I lay a pillow on my lap and prop my tablet or book on it, so I will be watching for directions.

I used dry beans in the one I made up myself, no pattern. If you are using mine on a table it is fine but think it would be to heavy to sit on your tummy or chest, never tried it that way. I did find a free pattern on Craftsy I think, that used cardboard for shape and a wooden dowel to keep iPad from slipping off. That might work better if they are going to be used by someone in bed.

I would use some pellets. Maybe encase them in muslin so they stayed in one spot. (Not explaining this well.) The rest could be polyfil. That way it would be possible to wash the product. Important if they will be used anywhere with people who may have health concerns. Just sayin'.

Good Morning, I have purchased a 'book/iPad' holder like the one you shared.https://smile.amazon.com/Bean-Lazy-E...tablet+cushion It's wonderful to use, especially with my 12" iPad. It is filled with those small styrofoam pellets and they are enclosed in a separate bag so you can pull them out to wash the outer bag. I've not tried to read a book using the beanbag. The only problem I could see is whether or not the pages would stay open. The bag is very light weight so it's no problem to hold.

I tried putting an old metal "copy holder" on my chest while I was flopped on the couch to see how that might work.

It was somewhat successful -

I am thinking/wondering that a mini-version of a drafting tilt-table might work - With a floppy/squishy part to put against one's body so it would not hurt - but it could also set on a night-stand or bedside table.

I found these: http://www.pingsandneedles.com/2012/...-tutorial.html and https://mypatchwork.wordpress.com/20...tand-tutorial/. Maybe these will work.
