Think this one will clean up?

This is the only photo I have of this machine. It looks really rough. Think it's just the photo? There's another photo of the cabinet and it's missing veneer.

I've been wanting one, but most that come up here are pretty pricey. This one is cheap. Maybe I should just go see it.

It just looks dusty dirty to me. My black 301 was the same dusty dirty, especially on the back of it from being down in the cabinet for years. I gently used baby wipes to get all the dust off of it, then used TR3 Resin glaze to bring back the shine.

The finish can be dull and worn, but often it's caused by a good layer of dust, dirt and grime. From the picture it looks rather promising. I have an eye on a 66 in a very similar cabinet, here the 301 is nearly impossible to find.

It looks like it would be worth going and looking at.

Run! The 301s are beautiful stitchers. Even if it ends up being "not as pretty" as you'd like, odds are high it will still have a lovely stitch. My 301 is old faithful, she has a drinking problem (loves her oil) but let's me know when she is thirsty.

Bummer - if they should get back to you, you might want to check out the cradle. It looks complete but there are parts that it attaches to on the front of the machine. My 301 came in a cabinet and when I tried to remove the machine from the cradle (I don't remember now, but I believe there is a lever near the back under the extension), it didn't work like it was supposed to. It turns out someone had taken a hacksaw to the cradle to make it fit on one of those square cornered Kenmore cabinet and the release lever didn't work. The machine was fine. But just something to be aware of.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

Where can one buy TR3? I would love to try it on my 15-91 to bring back some shine.

I hope you can get the 301, bkay!

That picture brought back memories! A Singer 301 was my mother's machine ( to the best of my knowledge) don't have a clue what happened to it.
