Where do you put the oil?
 

I have a buyer for this machine (I'm thinning the herd.). He's picking it up next weekend. I just realized that the motor says, "one drop of oil every 6 months only". Where do you put the oil? It's not covered in the manual.

The oil goes on each end of the motor axle, thats' wear the bearings are. There is usually a tiny external hole on the sides where the casing protrudes a bit. Can you detect anything if you look carefully and mabye tilt the machine a bit?

Sorry for the glare. See the tiny hole right above center where the shaft comes out of the motor casing? There's another hole in the same place on the other end too. That's where you put a small drop.

Thanks Cari and Mickey, I saw those holes, but they did not show up in the photo. I'll get that one drop in there tomorrow.

I just wanted to say congratulations on having a buyer for your machine. Mostly, I'm giving my extra/excess machines to a charity quilting group after they're cleaned up & working.

I wish I knew a charity quilting group to gift some of them to. I am unlikely to find buyers for all of them. I would guess that if I donate them to the Salvation Army, they will end up as scrap metal. So far, I've only sold one, the Pfaff 130, which was a slam dunk. I still have 201-2s, 15-91s, a 600 and some more Japanese models.

I still have 401s, 503s, a featherweight and a 301 which I have not yet decided whether to keep. Oh yeah, I still have my 778, too.

I'm not sure the turquoise one is sold. I don't have any cash in my hand, yet. I hope so, as it will be hard to send them to recycling.

It might be wise to poke the hole with a toothpick before applying the oil. Lint and dust might build up in the holes.

Don't any other choices but I for sure would not give them up for recycling. Maybe try and find someone that could use them.

BKay, my charity group makes quilts & bags for a large homeless shelter in nearby Kansas City, MO. i have more to go but I've gifted close to 15 machines to them. I also give machines away to people who want/need one that do not mind some life experiences showing on the finish.

You guys are probably right. If I don't sell them, I can always post them on Craigslist or Offer up for $20.00.

(I have a friend who rescues animals. She says to never give away a pet. If they don't pay something for it, they won't value it).
