Spider-Web Quilts
 

What has happened to Spider-Web Quilts? I've come across my papers and template from Missouri Star and have scraps and charms to use for one of these quilts, but are they still popular? String quilts seem to be everywhere, but it's been a while since I've seen anyone post about Spider Web Quilts. All comments welcome.

I don't pay attention to quilt styles so I don't know the answer to your question. I would rather make my own "style." If you want to make a certain quilt and you have the supplies, go for it!

I agree! I am often so far behind in the "current trends" I often wonder by the time I make a style of quilt that was super popular years ago, it will be a current trend again! LOL. For example the "Swoon" quilt was all the rage about 5 or 6 years ago. Everyone was making them, and there were many examples of it at quilt shows as well as here on the QB. It took a while to grow on me or maybe I had to see examples of it that impressed me enough to make one. I have fabrics set aside in my stash for my someday Swoon but I could end up changing my mind down the road. I have made a spiderweb quilt and it was a lot of fun to make. I actually made so many blocks I had enough for three of them! I have completed and gifted two of them but the third, blocks all made and sashing cut, just need to be assembled into a top. I think spiderwebs, like log cabin can be a great scrap buster.

Oh Gingerd what a fun example of a spiderweb and uses even more bits and pieces. Thanks for the link! This would make a fabulous Halloween decoration.

Looked at your sisters spider web project and love it. I am like feline fanatic-I am not with the trends and am always behind on what is the latest happening patterns. Usually I don't like new patterns or fabrics until they are about 1 or 2 years old then I can't find them. I like to make traditional patterns so I pretty much stick to the older styles.

Quilting is timeless! The spiderweb has been around a long time and I think it will be so for a while. I like to make whatever strikes my fancy!

Never made a spiderweb quilt. I don't worry about anything being in style.

Like all quilt patterns, Spider quilts only have to be popular to the maker and the receiver. I think they are beautiful, but way too many pieces for my impatient self.
