Any Feedback, Murder Mystery Quilt?

I have been getting posts on my Facebook page linking to https://murdermysteryquilt.com/join/ Does anyone know anything about this?

Has anyone participated in the past?

It is quite expensive, when basically all you get is a whodunit novel and quilt pattern for $100. But I thought I would ask if anyone here has personal experience or knows someone who participated in 2018?

As consumers we have to be very sure of what we are purchasing and from whom.

You are correct to be cautious.

I saw that as well. I love the idea, but it seems expensive to me. They promote that you also get the community on Facebook, so you get to meet and discuss with other quilters. Still seems expensive to me.

Merry Mayhem is presenting a Mystery Quilt on New Years Day. She will give clues every hour that you can download. I have made her mystery quilts in the past and have been very happy with it. It does not cost to participate. More info on her www. I don't know what the www is, just google her.

The photos below is one of her mysteries that I made last year. I don't know the name or number of the quilt so I guess I am not giving it way.........especially after I have already made it and it is my quilt. :-). Also attached a close up of the quilting.

I agree. And open forum to discuss with other quilters isn't enough for me to pay $100 for a murder mystery and a pattern. I can get a lot of murder mysteries and a lot of quilt patterns for that amount. If I want to discuss quilting, I can come here.

It is Christmas, no one has money left to pay that much. wait a bit. you can always find the pattern yourself and buy it without using that link that just showed up.

With all the free Mysteries, why pay? just google the addr below and see all the good FREE ones that come up. Remember Bonnie Hunter (quiltville.blogspot) has one going on right too.

I participated in this year's mmq. I won't be doing the 2019. Honestly, I thought some of the directions were poorly written, and frequently had errors. I kept up the first few months, and created a panel that I think most people thought would be the center of the quilt in the final layout. After that, I did some of the blocks, but not all. I didn't like the final layout, and now am glad I didn't waste the fabric to complete all the blocks. I do like the panel I made, and plan to create some borders to finish it.

Thank you for all the comments.

Yes, I am aware of the Bonnie Hunter, Merry Mayhem and other mystery quilts. I am also a Murder Mystery lover.

I am wrapping up the Kaffe 2018 Mystery Quilt and will be doing the Canadian Quilters Association Mystery Quilt in the new year.

Thank you Holly H for your review of participating last year. Poor error filled instructions are a no go for me.

I think I will use the money to buy fabric, or perhaps one of the Violet Craft patterns.
