Hi, I'm Martha from VA. I'm new to quilting, haven't sewn in years. I am in the process of hand-quilting my first quilt, but took a break from it to make a quilt for my (almost 30 yr old - yikes) daughter for Christmas. I'm in the process of hand quilting it also. Its a disappearing 9 patch. Came out pretty neat.

I've been hanging out on the forum a bit lately - great ideas and wonderful people who share!

I'm learning a lot from everyone. Love it here.

Welcome, I hope we get to see photos of your quilt, it takes a lot of patience to hand quilt, but i love the rhythm involved.

Thanks for the welcomes.
I've learned a lot - of what NOT to do. The quilt I'm doing for my daughter, the hand quilting stitches are not as tiny as I'd like. But its getting done, and she'll take good care of it. And if something happens, she'll bring it back to me to fix.....she does NO sewing (or any other craft!). Hehe

Here is a pic of the quilt top:

Thanks!

That's my daughter's taste. She likes modern/contemporary. She helped pick out about half the fabric. She has good taste! :)

Welcome from western PA. Love the colors in your quilt. Now that it's cold out I hope to get back to hand quilting, too.

Welcome from SC! I was much like you....loved sewing as a child/teen/and young adult. Then children were growing fast, and no time for 'fun' sewing, just curtains and such....now the nest is empty and quilting has changed! All the new 'toys' and 'systems' and pre-cut fabric, wow! It's so much fun...you'll enjoy yourself even more than before! And yes, this forum is wonderful with so many fabulous quilters! Sweethearts one and all!
Kind Regards,
MaryAnna
