Looking for a pattern

Recently saw this beautiful quilt at a fall festival, should have listened to my husband and bought it☹️. Does anyone know the pattern? The placement of light and dark quarter square triangles is the key but a pattern would be a nice reference. Thanks for any input.

It's called broken dishes. I don't think there are QST's in there. Just a lot
of HST's. It's all in the placement. One block is Broken Dishes and the
next one is in diamond shape.

If you do a search for "quilt layouts made with half square triangles. A lot of amazing quilts pop up. Lots and lots of layouts. I thought I had a printout out of a lot of different ones but can't seem to find it. Help, I need to organize!!!

Take out the graph paper and crayons and make your own pattern!

I am sure that once you do a few rounds on the graph paper, you will get the knack of how the placement goes, and stop colouring. The maker has worked with light/dark fabrics, but not been rigid on how dark/light, so you get a more blended subtle look, yet see the darker rounds alternating.

Being a scrappy quilt, if I were making it, I would make a whole bunch of QSTs first. Then start in the centre, and gradually work my way out, ring by ring, adding two opposite sides, then the other two opposite sides and so on. It'll help you keep those darker rings more in order. Plus, if you are aiming at a general colour tone within each round, it'll be easier.

For sure, a design wall would help you get the first rounds set up before you start stitching and help with colour/fabric balance effect ...... and help keep your sanity! Yes, I am one that doesn't go totally scrappy, and keeps it more organized.

Good Luck!

I agree with others that graph paper is a good place to start, I do not see and QST’s, only HST’s. Its very pretty!

I agree, you can make it all with HST's, and it will be much easier to sew and put the design together that way.

Here's how it's broken down. It's just a question of light
and dark placement.

We are all right!
This is one of those optical illusions, that we all see differently.
For me, I see it as being QSTs which would make the QST blocks easier easier to place because of the ring pattern worked out in the lighter/darker fabrics.

Certainly you can make it with HSTs, but because of the above, for me it would be more of a nightmare to manage.

Good thing we are all different! :)

Ok. Now I see how you could make QST's and it would be on point.
