Quilting Goals 2026

Gosh where did this year go to! The past 2 years have been challenging and full of twists and turns for me, I have finally adjusted for the most part and my sew-jo ebbs and flows. My goals are:

1. No goals!

I have 2 small quilts and a throw size quilt to complete for friends of my daughter. After that I will spend time in my studio if the mood strikes me. I will sort through more of my stash and list on Etsy if I feel the desire to spend the time and effort.
I have so much fabric but I will not feel guilty for having my Zen Den and thus feeling obligated to do something in there just because of some internal “justification”.

What are your quilting goals for 2026?

My goals are simple and not uncommon........Use up stash, minimal shopping and finish 12 UFOs. I have a few family members that have not received a quilt from me and I would like to reduce that list

I looked back at my goals for 2025. I accomplished those, though I didn't make as many quilts as I had hoped. I did make some that were more complicated than my usual, but I've been in a quilting slump the past couple of months.

For 2026:
1. I have 3 quilts entered in the Hemet guild's quilt show in February. I have added the hanging sleeve to them, but I still have to add labels.
2. I'm going to Road2CA in January with a side trip to M&L. My goal there is not to buy too much, but I might as well cross that goal off as unobtainable.
3. My longarm friendship group hasn't met in a long time. I'd like to get that going again, and have an occasional sew day at my house.
4. As always, the main goals are to reduce stash and keep the quilting room more organized while still making a bunch of quilts.

2026! No goals, but good intentions. My kitchen needs new pot holders and JR rugs. I have an idea to make a tote bag using finished cross stitch projects and iron on vinyl. Plus, I have my next two pixel quilts planned and kits made. I am struggling with a plethora of scraps, so also working on organization.

I don't have any goals, never did. I don't have a big stash like most quilters and no real quilting plans right now. I guess if I were to set any, it would be to get better at FMQ on my new frame. I may switch gears this year and try my hand at making some garments. Now I am looking for a decent serger to help with that endeavor. We'll see. I could always use my zig zag attachment for finishing rough edges. Never say never, though. I may decide to make some sort of scrappy quilt.

Happy New Year

Work down stash, finish # of quilts and remain happy and healthy. Spend more time with family and friends.

My goals are to use more of my overflowing stash and only order backing if needed, use patterns I already have and ones for Project Linus that will go quickly. I want to learn more free motion designs (ones that swirl), get a design wall made up so I don't have to crawl on the floor. Mainly I want to make sure my sewing chair is firmly behind me when I go to sit down....I totally missed my chair last Friday and fell in the floor, knocking over my Martha Washington cabinet, brusing my bottom and moving my spine out of alignment. Had to take a couple days off to heal somewhat before quilting again. Need a better 2026!

The only goal I have is to not buy fabric, in fact I've been selling some in my eBay store. I have waaaay too much and since my only children are 3 sons I doubt they will want any. (nor my dils!!) Maybe my granddaughter someday..........

Lisa- Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!

I stopped kidding myself about using all my stash. I have made so many three yard quilts using my stash and I'm three yards so over it. There is no good reason why I feel I have to use what I have because I have it. I realized that way of thinking weighs me down. I'm donating fabric to groups that sew donation quilts. Off my shelf and out of the bins I rarely looked into. I bought a beautiful quilt kit and did not listen to my head saying buy the pattern and use your stash. My heart is happy!

Keeping my machine permanently set up.

I need to reconfigure my living room to make it happen. Currently I need to collapse the drop-leaf table I sew on before going to bed otherwise it's a fire hazard because it blocks the path to the door (my apartment is tiny).

I know I'll sew more if I have a proper set up.
