Quilted Jacket - Finally
2 Attachment(s)
I finally finished the quilted jacket that I began last Fall. Had a little trouble with the pattern I chose (sleeve placement was just terrible), so unmade it and got another pattern, and had to Frankenstein the sleeves from it, lots of redoing but I got it finished.
I can't decide if it looks more like a robe than a jacket, but I like it. Dropped sleeves are definitely the way to go with a quilted jacket/robe/whatever, and if I make another one, I'll probably go with one with self-facing on the front. No batting in this one, just the pieced shell quilted to a very lightweight flannel. Still plenty cozy. Thanks for looking. :) |
Enjoy wearing your quilted jacket! You did an amazing job! I like your idea of using the flannel to make it cozy.

Very nicely done...thanks for sticking with it and showing us. I think perhaps it's the overall length that gives it the appearance of a robe.

Your jacket is very nice. I have found the sleeve area to be the most troublesome area to fit well when making one. Yours looks great!

I'm impressed. There appears to be good planning on where the blocks fall on the coat. My friend just made a quilted hoodie out of 1" squares. With batting it weighs a LOT. Your jacket will be nice and flexible around your body. Maybe it's the belt that gives it that "I'm a robe" vibe.

Lovely jacket. You did a great job. I am currently finishing one I started a couple of months ago for my cousin. I am having a difficult time finding buttons though. Now that JoAnn's is gone none of the stores seem to sell them. Buttons for sale online all seem to ship from China so there is a long wait to get them.

That's one of the reasons I went with a belt, where I could find adequate buttons, none of them suited the style of this, but if I do find any that look right, I might remove the belt loops and add a button or three.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, it was a bigger process to get this done than I imagined going in, but it is comfortable to wear (no stiff sleeves), and I'm glad I tackled it.
