1st post makes it spam to me

sewbizgirl 05-02-2026 02:46 PM

Yup… first post. Suspicious.

It's a legit website. I found the program to be very basic. Didn't interest me at all.

A first time post definitely comes across as suspicious. If the link was malicious or was promoting something that made someone money or other benefit I would completely agree with you that it could be classified as spam.
A bit about me, I am honing my craft in website development. I am a father of 2 girls and a husband. I have a full-time job and am dabbling in web design to learn a new skill. QuiltButler.com just launched last weekend so my thought process was it would be appropriate to announce to a quilting forum about a free tool designed specifically to help new quilters coming into the hobby and to do it on a quilting forum in the section titled Links and Resources. The site will be bringing much more enhancements in the months to come. Thank you, God bless, and happy quilting everyone!

The first post is a direct copy from the first page of the QuiltButler website. That in itself is a red flag, but the second post definitely screams SPAM.

I so agree. It seems like someone who joined just promote their own website.

i can't make up my mind about the "is it or isn't it spam?" thing.
but it is definitely advertising, which we don't allow here.

if dadofmo is a quilter, then let's give him another chance.
if he is not, then he knows now that we aren't the best place for him to practice is side hustle.
