Very interesting!!! :D:D:D
I wonder what would happen if you topped it with quilting cotton? And how well it would stand up to repeated washings in a quilt? Anyone know?

butterflywing 01-18-2010 08:16 PM

it looks like the cotton that she used may have been quilter's weight. what would you do with it, though? after it was smushed up?

I just saw a demonstration of it yesterday, and it was done with quilter's fabrics and light batting. Many different effects with different stitchings. I bought some, but haven't tried it yet.

please show us how it works out. and what you decide to do with it.

Most definitely, I will try to play with it this week some time!

My local shop had a sample. It looked really neat, however, when I picked it up to feel it, it was very stiff and plastic feeling.
I can't imagine using this on a quilt unless it was a small piece on a crazy quilt. I can also see this for use on tote bags, decorator pillows, purses, but not on quilts or clothing.
I was looking for this stuff to pucker regular fabric and leave it stretchy like the blouses sold at craft shows, but it is not stretchy at all, after it shrinks it is stiff. If anyone else has tried this and it is suptle after shrinking, I would really like to know.
Perhaps my quilt shop owner did not do it right.

The samples I saw were used for the top of a little girls dress, bodice, where there was a facing, and stuff not worn close to the skin. I will check it out when I use some and let you know how it feels.

is it really the same stuff? there might be something softer on the market.
this seems to have a plastic-like appearance. you also can't see how flexible it is.
it reminds me of the stuff that kids play with and put in the oven - shrinkies or something. they make clay-like things and bake them and they come out tiny and hard.

i think totes would be best. what do you think?
