Checkers is one of the biggest. They are located now in Las Vegas. They supply EVERYTHING for quilters, including material.

so If I were to open a quilt shop I would buy from there??

if you wanted to sell fabric, you would buy from reps that carry either one manufacturer or several.

sometimes when you open a home page of a manufacturer of anything, you see a place for dealers to click.

Yes, you would. They have a wonderful hard cover catalogue with virtually everything imaginable for quilters. Fabric lines are usually bought at the Houston quilt show or from traveling reps. Checkers does sell fabric but the newest comes from the show or reps. Choice Fabrics is another good resource for fabrics. There are lots more, but those are the two I use most frequently.

As Karen said, Checker Distributors (www.checkerdist.com) is a great source for notions, patterns, thread as well as fabric. The shop I work for usually orders fabric direct from the manufacturers (Kaufman, Moda, P&B, etc.) or through their sales reps.

I live in Mass. and use a local wholesaler, New England Quilt Supply, http://www.newenglandquiltsupply.com/catalog.html . Ron is the contact person. I think he owns the place. It is huge. 3 floors of fabric and one that has books and notions. The staff that helps out is excellent too. Good luck.

I guess I never thought where they got the fabric. As long as they keep it coming so I can keep buying.
