This recipe is very flavorful and great for a crockpot.

1/2 cup of water
1.5 pounds of ground turkey or ground beef
1 pound of bacon..cut into pieces
1.5 cups of chopped onions
1 cup of ketchup
1.5 teaspoons dry mustard
1 tablespoon of vinegar
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cup of king syrup

Brown the meat , drain off the fat..add the onions and cook until tender. Combine the meat and all the other above in a crock pot. Add the following,

Drain and rinse the following
1- 14 oz can of
butter beans
kidney beans
lima beans
great northern beans

1 14 oz can of pork and beans...DO NOT DRAIN

Simmer all of this in a crock pot.

This makes a full pot and I sometimes freeze some of it..if any is left..Enjoy!

King syrup is not available here.It is so good. When we go to Delaware we get it and scrapple too.

Sounds like a great recipe for summer get togethers. Can I substitute NY Maple Syrup for the King Syrup?

Janetlmt 04-23-2010 04:12 AM

You could use maple syrup or molassis. I live near Lancaster PA and we have the worlds best scrapple.

Okay, so do I simmer in my crock pot on high or low and for how many hours? I'm definitely going to make this recipe for our summer family reunion. Thanks for the recipe

I just put it on high for the first hour and then low for the rest of the day...and checking on it and stirring it every so often.

I was going to ask what King syrup is.

I'm interested in the beans recipe, but do I use all the beans listed or just my favorite?
