Hi everyone!! I'm looking for some ideas/recipes for some meals that I can make now and put in the freezer for later. I'll be having a baby in November, and with 2 other children, I know I won't feel like cooking or figuring out meals.
Do you have any good meals that keep well in the freezer for up to 6 months?
Thanks in advance!! :-D

There is a book that you can get that shows you recipes for make it now, eat it later. It's called Fix it, Freeze It or something like that. I'm not at home and won't be for a few days, so I can't help you with the name of the book. I'll do a little search and see if I can find it for you. It has some great recipes and such and would be a huge help for you.

The bacis are great: couple of Meat Loafs, 2 Batches of Spaghetti, Thick Soup/Stew, Meatballs, Lasagna, Casaroles. Of course these are frozen in meal sized porportions.

I made most of the above for my daughter. She has one 19 months and 2 1/2 weeks. She loves she can pull meatballs one or two for the toddlers lunch.

Blessings.

Heather, Pretty much everything cooked can be frozen. I freeze spahgetti with sauce/meat loaf cooked in muffin tins, then freeze. Lasagne,Pork chops in gravy. Grilled chicken, swiss steak, chile, sloppy joes/roast beef with veggies and gravy.
I do have and use the seal a meal. they can even be dropped in boiling water, and re-heated that way.
i don't freeze egg dishes or mashed potatoes, steak or cheese.
i have taken my seal a meal with me to florida and texas to make dishes for my kids and freeze meals for them. lol
Kudos for planning!

What has helped me the most during the busy years having children and watching them grow up and being so busy is to cook double amounts. Here are some things I cook double and they have always been good.
1.Meat Loaf; make double, freeze 1/2 unbaked or baked. Label so you can bake if needed, or just thaw if baked. Add baked potatoes, salad, slice of bread.
2. Fried Chicken. Fry the whole chicken; put 1/2 in the freezer for later.
3. Spaghetti and Meat Sauce. Just freeze 1/2 the sauce. Pull it out, thaw, boil the spaghetti, ect, ready in minutes.
4. Roast Beef. A wonder meal; so much you can do with it. Serve it as such, then save for sandwiches, stroganoff, beef and noodles.
5. Cakes, pies, cookies, all freeze well, if you hide them!
Best of everything with your family and the new baby!
Hope these ideas help.

I printed some soup recipes from Taste of Home and found them very good. I think it is tasteofhome.com.
