Hi,
New to this site. I have some Amish Quilt patterns, but the directions are not clear. I would like a pattern with rotary cutting instructions, easy to follow directions, size options, great method. I have Eleanor Burns "Quick trip" book, but I want squares, not rectangles and not that wide; squares about 1 1/2in. wide. Does her other "Trip" book have Squares in the pattern?
Any patterns out there?

Depending on the final size you want the quilt to be ... I would not recommend 1 1/2" squares for a bed quilt (I speak from experience!!!) you will end up hating the thought of working on it!

I made my first Trip quilt using 5" sq and it was perfect then I thought I'd jazz it up a bit and made my daughter one for a queen size bed out of shades of purple ... using 3 inch squares - I was ready to kill her and myself byt the time I got it done ... and to this day I have no desire to do another purple quilt (and it's been 5 years!!!!)

Just my thoughts ... and mine was the Eleanor Burns verson ... but I had the pattern using squares - not rectangles.

I haven't found one using just squares. The pattern I used had a strip piecing method. It was very fast. The only downfall is I haven't figured out how to line up your colors the way you want them in the finished diamond pattern. I am sure if I sat there and studied it I could figure it out, but for now I leave it up to chance for what will be in the center.

I used to do ATW the traditional way untill I got Eleanor Burns "Quick Trips". I will never make it the old way ever again. You could easily adjust the size of your strips to be whatever size you want and then continue with her method. I love her method and ATW is one of my favorite patterns. Don't give up. I have resized this quilt down to baby size and up to King. Go for it! PS> I agree not to go to small on your block size. My favorite is 3.5 for a 3" finish.

Sounds like you are getting some help.

Elenor's older editon of Trip Around the World ends up with squares. The newer edition is rectangles. I've made both and they are made sewing strips together first.
