but he says it isn't thick as he'd like it to be....would doubling batting make it hard for the quilter to quilt it?
this was my first functional quilt.... :) made last year.

you just need to get a different type of batting. someone will be along and suggest one for you to use.
but no, no double batting..
and it turned out great!

thank you this was a test in my patience - the triangles were my first challenge and I was going to buy a triangle template....the quilt shop owner looked at me and said how many of these do you need and what are you working on?
I told him and he said let me show you something..... that's when he showed me how to mark the 1/4 down the center on both sides sew and cut i thought it was the most brilliant thing ever!!! he lost a sale but gained a customer! That was when I realized the quilting community was so helpful. :)

some quilters keep the brand of batting they prefer to use with thier longarm business. you could always ask them.

i usually just like to work with warm and natural..which is flat.

I guess I'm wondering why he wants it thick. For the weight? More warmth? Warm and Natural is flatter, but I like of the weight of quilts made with it. And Warm & Natural is nice and warm. Hubby and I were camping in Northeastern Washington last weekend and it was below freezing overnight and we were toasty warm in our sleeping bags with a quilt made with W&N over us.

If he just wants it fluffy, then a high loft polyester would be needed, but that wouldn't be very heavy and probably not as warm. What batting you use would depend on what he wants exactly.

It may not be think, but the question is, is it warm. He maybe surprise.

Oh i love it!!! it''s warm - considering how light it is i think he is expecting it to be thicker and heavier - he's just picky. but I do want to research all my options and I believe i used W&N for the batting in this quilt. When you put it on it's very light but you give it a few minutes and you are snug as a bug!

What about a wool batting? That would make it really warm and a bit more fluffy than warm and Nat.

I usually tell people to put a blanket next to their body and the quilt on top on that. Unless you use flannel for the backing some people just seem to think it is not thick enough or warm enough.
